The Whiskey Biscuit - a new favorite

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I was on vacation and trying to get back into the groove of things since. Why does vacation ever have to end?

All I know is that I'm glad I'm back in Denver and for one specific reason - The Whiskey Biscuit. A small group of friends and I got together at this new spot to sample the menu. I first noticed The Whiskey Biscuit through Instagram and realized that they were a new restaurant. After doing some more research, I realized they were a new restaurant that I HAD to try.

Their menu is extremely exciting and surprising - bringing together pairings that are normally not seen as a pair. For example, their Steak & French Toast. Who would ever think that these two would go so well together? Well, The Whiskey Biscuit's Chef, Jeremy Gable, would. It's delicious. Move over chicken and waffles.

Another quirky but delicious pairing on their menu is the PB & J Tots. Where the "J" stands for jalapeno. Yes, this is a thing and yes, it is delicious. The peanut butter adds a semi-sweet flavor and pairs so well with the spice of the freshly diced jalapeno. It's unreal. Their tots are freshly made, large, soft, yet crunchy. I would highly recommend trying this dish, especially if you love tots as much as I do.

Almost everything they have on their menu fits in so well with the "Whiskey" theme. One of my favorites was the whiskey glazed bacon. It sounds exciting, but it's even more exciting once you try it. Their three cheese grilled cheese is stuffed with that glazed bacon- also yellow cheddar, white cheddar, and gorgonzola cheese.

Using the same brioche bread as the French Toast, it is toasted to perfection and gives the same amount of softness as it does crunch. THE BEST grilled cheese I've ever had. In my opinion, sometimes grilled cheese can become boring and bland - but The Whiskey Biscuit's is far from either.

The food menu isn't the only menu that blew me away. The drinks that the bar offers are insanity. Once again, you can see the creativity that The Whiskey Biscuit has to offer. One of my favorites was the "Sorbet Mimosa". This is a classic Mimosa served with a scoop of Sorbet. The sorbet kind of fizzes in the champagne and slowly melts into the drink as you sip, giving it a burst of flavor. You can choose between passion fruit or raspberry. I tried both and the raspberry was my favorite.

The Whiskey Biscuit's bloody mary truly stood out to me as well. Staying true to the classic bloody, this bloody is made with Zing Zang mix and vodka, but what sets it apart from the rest is the fact that it is served with a side of pickled peppers, onions & an egg. It was an amazing addition and when the pickle juice is added to the bloody mary, it's pure heaven. Oh yeah, and the salted rim... so much yes.

For dessert, I'd recommend the Rye Sundae. This is far from your typical sundae. The Rye Sundae is rye cake served with bourbon ice cream (AMAZING), whiskey caramel , and whiskey glazed bacon crumbles (yes, once again the infamous whiskey glazed bacon). It's to die for. So many different whiskey infused ingredients coming together to form the perfect signature dessert. You cannot go wrong with this sweet dish.

There are so many choices and they are all unique in flavor, profile, and presentation. I truly enjoyed every bite and sip I had during my time at The Whiskey Biscuit and will definitely be back. If you're looking for an easy-going meal that is different, yet familiar, you've found it. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu at The Whiskey Biscuit. When you visit, you can expect fast, friendly service, a comforting vibe, amazing drinks and food, and a good time over all. I'd recommend you check them out! They have a happy hour (M - F), brunch on the weekends, and serve lunch/dinner as well.
